I Live In A Land Of Peace-loving People

I was born on October 30 of 1944.
America was in the midst of a mighty war,
killing Germans, Italians, and Japanese.
'Twas to ensure freedom, if you please.

Between my young years of six and nine,
America fought the Korean War just fine.
A line was drawn, a shaky peace made;
for years it was feared they might re-invade.

During the years of my teens and twenties all,
America fought to not let those dominoes fall.
Some 58,000 American soldiers met their fate
there in Vietnam. Even I was sent to participate.

During my late thirties up to my fiftieth year,
America had armed interventions far and near.
Included were Libya, Lebanon, Somalia, and
Bosnia, with invasions into other foreign land.

We invaded Grenada, Panama, and Iraq.
We didn't do Iraq right; now we are back
From my mid-fifties to this the present day,
we've warred in various lands along the way.

America fought in Kosovo and now has more
wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to even the score
with Muslim terrorists; we threw in interventions
in both Haiti and Somali, with peaceful intentions.

America is the home of the brave, land of the free.
We support harmony and peace from sea to sea.
I'm sure happy I was born into a peace-loving nation,
'though all these wars we fought cause me consternation.
