Her eyes shone brightly
Crinkled with laughter and joy From her eyes I take my cue And find humor in my heart too Her eyes shone brightly Set with determination and steel Strength is drawn from such eyes It’s where the source of all my courage lies Her eyes shone brightly Gleaming with cruelty and spite The knife twists painfully in my side My heart is lost and vacant of all pride Her eyes shone brightly Radiating with anger and rage Fear makes me quiver and wither and weep No longer person, but a sad little heap Her eyes shown brightly And as a child they ruled my world But distant and grown I finally realize She is just a woman and those are just her eyes
