September
A poem I wrote after the events of 9/11

The thunder screams amazingly loud
as silver white horses dance across clouds
the rain is falling from a steel gray sky
what did we do that made God cry?
was it in awful September when man waged war
does he wonder what we started the fighting for?
did he hear our screams that tore from our hearts
as each plane crashed and ripped us apart.
did he cry for the father that lost his son
did he wish for the power to reverse what was done?
does he wish for the violence and anger to stop
as we all pray and to our knees we drop.
this world is ours and it's going real fast
why haven't we learned from mistakes in the past?
take my hand and follow me home
come, my brethren, from London, Paris and Rome
here's my message, it tells of love
it's a song, a letter, a gift from above.
