patterns of love
another love poem, when absence is too much a part of the equation

forever your absence will be a bitter brew
I drink nightly, steeped with tears of adieu

you linger on my sheets, a scent of wonder
I exalt in the unanswered questions on your altar

I would worship your presence with seamless grace
wrapped in your nudity, trapped in an unending embrace

yet at each dawn, when I braved your whispered words
not tenderness, but another timid farewell was all I heard

behind closed doors you open love with simple complexity
you are my precious death, life’s absent entity

our twin heartbeats throb in a dance of mistaken strangers
they weave blissful patterns on the wind, unaware of danger

I am your guardian, imprisoned by silence
keeping the secret of my true love’s penance
