“He”

He said, "I love you."
I refused to comprehend.
Love was unnecessary to me.
His unyielding words lie beyond my consciousness.

He persisted.
I denied my loneliness,
stubbornly grasping the emptiness.
His patience waited for my desolate heart.

He told a story.
I listened with deaf ears,
yet the tale could not be forgotten.
His life had ended in self-sacrifice and pain.

He showed a light.
I squeezed my eyes shut.
It would be too hard, for I would stray.
His understanding engulfed me, He expected no less.

He opened his arms.
I surrendered; I am tired.
My heart and soul beat with new life.
His overflowing presence embodies strength.

He died for me.
I live because of Him.
Promises of love eternal proven.
His grace gave my life purpose, for I am His.
