This is an open letter to someone I never knew and who does not know me. It is a letter of thanks from my heart because this person did something that is transforming my life.

                This person gave me sight.

Whoever you are you signed the papers that allowed your loved one's cornea to become mine. At a time of sorrow in your own life you thought of the good your loved one's eyes could do for someone else.

Today instead of a misty darkness I see color and light and my family's faces. When I open my eyes in the morning I see. Can anyone who has not been blind understand what that means? I have my life back!

As my sight improves from day to day new things open up to me which have been closed a long time. I had almost forgotten how beautiful summer is! Everything is a new delight. In my eighty first-year I am in a sense seeing all things new. I do not know how to tell you how precious to me is the gift you gave me. All I can say, with all my heart, is thank you! God bless you.
