" Fun At The Beach, My last Visit "

    Waiting in the sun,
    applying lotion, wind calmly stale.
    Broken glass underfoot, cigarette butts,
    candy wrappers, soda pop, waste.
Barely smelling the ocean, once enjoyed.
Birds gone, fish dead, water stagnant.
    Waves bring debris, beach vacant.
    Skin burning, sand blackened, ozone.

    What a lovely day, glad.
    It couldn't be any better!
    Who could ask for more?
Is this not our mighty nation?
Are these not our national treasures?
I am waiting here, will you come?
Will you come, someone who cares?
On second thought your're right, who cares?
    I'm leaving too.
