With every venomous remark
that oozes from your
wanton lips, my innards
churn with skepticism.

Of this person and that,
your shrewd appraisal
casts doubt upon all
that I once held dear.

Commanding me to follow
you, I grow more timorous by
the moment, and your
reigns tighten about my neck.

Every fabrication spewing
from your wicked tongue
causes me anguish, no matter your
take that they’re only little white lies.

Indeed, your little white lies
have isolated me, drawn me
away from all that was angelic,
and coerced me into docility.

Finally breaking free from
your stronghold, I see
no more gray, only the black
and white of truth and facts.

This disengagement offers
me freedom for my soul,
because in truth I find solace, and in
solace there is immunity from distress.
