Beneath Crippled Rainbows
a man is consumed by his art

Colors bleed from the sky,
trickling from once vibrant bands
of crimson and emerald and gold,
only form into murky pools of
unrecognizable matter,
much like a Dali painting.

Hiding from the ill winds,
a poet dissolves onto a sheet of paper,
his mind's once radiant hues
now twisting and swirling to
a thick shade of ink
that has collected upon the page.

The words come alive before him,
taking on a life of their own,
only to swallow him up
in their new-found hunger.
Another soul devoured,
beneath crippled rainbows.
