A MAIDEN’S DILEMMA
Two young men are dating me, One lawyer, one poet. I do not know whom to choose, Whom to trust, not to trust. Poet can dream anything, Lawyer is suspicious. He thinks that the poet’s thoughts Are simply fictitious. Poet is too passionate, Lawyer is ludicrous. Conscious of hourly fees, He makes his dates a fuss. Shall I choose the poet then? He’ll write me love sonnets. No, I think the lawyer’ll do. He’ll give diamond lockets. • Written in abcb, 7-6-7-6 format M C Gupta 12 July 2008
