She's A Rock She’s a rock, shaped by weather and time. She remains fixed amid the storms. Loved ones cling to her against the raging flood waters. Beauty surrounds her. Compassion is her cloak, her strength, a shield. Pain stabs her, engulfs her. She chooses life. She overcomes grief, demonstrating her hope, holding high her steadfast faith. She remains fixed amid the storms. She’s a rock, shaped by weather and time. by Pat Nelson July 15, 2008 This is a Double Nonet with prompts given for a contest. A Nonet is a poem with nine lines. Line one has nine syllables, line two has eight syllables, and on like that until the ninth line, which is only one syllable. A Double Nonet reverses the order in the second verse. Rhyming is not necessary. The main emphasis should be on imagery and the flow of the thoughts throughout the poem. It is also dedicated to, and inspired by my sister, Mary Ann, who lost her husband in May. Also see "She Is A Rock"
