You Courted Death
You went home alone

Today the Angels cried softly right along with me.
They knew that you courted death just to be pain free.
As it became a constant in this life you see.
Suffering came each day and would not let you be.

The Lord watched you every hour, as you fought alone.
He knew just what he had to do, to take your spirit home.
While you tried to sleep that night, I heard you softly moan.
As your heart just gave out, you traveled home alone.

I saw your spirit leave, moving toward a light.
Rising with a fluid grace, it was a peaceful sight.
The body left on the bed, a testament to all.
When the heart knows our Lord, the spirit hears His call.
