                                                WEDNESDAY

My good friend Sandra visited us last week. We had a nice time eating fresh
seafoods courtesy of my dear husband's cooking. We love to have Sandra at
home because she always appreciates what we put on the table.

She told me before she left, "Will you teach me how to cook a simple and tasty
steak ? "

Living in a coastal and fishing village me and my husband missed the fine dining
of the urban living, with Sandra's special request, I volunteered.

" I will cook Salisbury Steak for dinner the next time you visit us."

Sandra with her widened eyes quickly replied, " I stay for dinner, I am inviting
myself, please cook the Salisbury Steak and I am your student , so  I will learn."

How can I refuse a very good friend ?

Yes, I did cook it and we had a wonderful time.

So, as I was able to teach my good friend the recipe of one of my favorites, here
I am writing it in this community for the purpose of sharing.

Please follow with me:

SALISBURY STEAK
===============
INGREDIENTS:

1      KILO GROUND BEEF
1/2    TSP  SALT
1/2    TSP  BLACK PEPPER
1      CAN SLICED MUSHROOMS DRAINED
        (Reserve liquid do not throw)
1      TBSP FLOUR
1        BEEF CUBE

PROCEDURE :

Mix meat, salt and pepper, and shape into four oval patties.

Cook patties over medium heat. Turning until done. (About 10 to 12 minutes)
Remove patties and place to a warm plate.
(Do not wash the skillet yet )
Cook and stir the mushrooms in the same skillet until golden brown.
Stir in flour. Cook over low  heat stirring until mixture turns bubbly.
Remove from heat.
Add enough water to reserved mushroom liquid that would measure about
1/2 cup.
Stir liquid and beef cube into the flour mixture and heat to boiling.
Stir constantly.
Boil and stir for one minute. Remove and pour on to the meat.
Goes well with mashed potato.

Good for four persons.

Oh !  May I add the recipe of my very own Mashed Potatoes ?

MASHED POTATOES
=================

INGREDIENTS:
3      BIG SIZES POTATOES
1/4    CUP MILK
2      TBSP BUTTER
1/4  TSP SALT
DASH OF PEPPER

Pare the potatoes.  Heat 1 inch salted water (!/2 tsp salt to 1 cup of water )
to boiling. Add potatoes. Cover and cook until tender (about 30 to 35 minutes)
Drain.
Mashed the potatoes until no lumps remain. Add milk in small amounts
beating after each addition.
Add butter, salt and pepper. Beat until potatoes are light and fluffy.

Good for 4 persons.

One more funny thing !  Sandra wanted to learn how to make a dessert having
Bananas as the main ingredient, so here is my moment of sharing this
dessert.

THE ELEGANT BANANA PUDDING

INGREDIENTS:

8 MEDIUM SIZE RIPE BANANAS SLICED THINLY
1 BOX VANILLA WAFERS OR PLAIN WAFERS
4 CUPS WHOLE MILK
1 CAN CONDENSED MILK
4 EGGS
1 CUP SUGAR
1 1/2 TBSP FLOUR
1 1/2  TBSP VANILLA EXTRACT

PROCEDURE:

Blend eggs, sugar and flour with an electric blender until smooth.
Add whole milk, condensed milk and vanilla extract and beat until blended.

Pour into a saucepan and warm over medium heat, stirring constantly until
it thickens and becomes a custard . (about 7 minutes)

In a large square tupperware or bowl , layer the wafers and the thinly sliced
ripe bananas until all slices are being used.
Layer as follows :
bottom- wafers
next    - banana
next    - custard
Until everything is used. At the last layer have the wafer on top.
Have this chilled . Serve like serving a slice of cake and top this with ice cream.

Hmmmm!  Super Delicious and Super Nutritious.

Try this at home as well as when you entertain your friends.
Think of me the first bite you make.
Enjoy and Have an Elegant and Fine Dining !
