SILENCE OF THE WALL
Bang on the wall, or, the door, Till your knuckles ache and sore. There are some who won’t reply, Howsoever hard you try. Of no use, your cry and wail. Rest assured, you won’t prevail Against silence of the wall, Which all entreaty does stall. No more begging, ranting now. I will, yet, pull on somehow Without your benevolence. I don’t need your sustenance. Keep your wisdom, keep your gold, O, you heartless creature old. I will move on without you. One day you may beg me too. * Written in aabb, 7-7-7-7 format. * Initially written as item 414068 in the book MISCELLANEA, "MISCELLANEA" M C Gupta 20 March 2006
