FOLLY
I undoubtedly concede That I am just a fool. Else I would not have been used By this world as a tool. In my life many follies So far I committed. In order to please others, I often submitted. Provoked by ill tempered words, I wrote angry letters; Only to find later that It had worsened matters. Where pure ignorance is bliss, Knowledge is unwelcome, ‘It is folly to be wise’, I forgot this dictum. I won’t do so now again, I’ll shut up pen and mouth. Silence is in fact golden. I better not speak out. • Written in abcb, 7-6-7-6 format * Initially written and posted on allpoetry.com on 13 September 2004. Posted on writing.com on 25 July 2008 M C Gupta 13 September 2004
