Why?

Why must souls seek peace,
and hearts search for more joy?
Where do peace and joy abide?
Why do we bear undeserved guilt,
and carry unbearable burdens?
Where do forgiveness and relief dwell?
Why self-loathing so easily felt,
souls drained of self-worth,
hearts long for validation?

It is the way of this world.
The soul does not belong here.
The heart longs to be elsewhere,
a place where love and joy reside,
leaving no room for sadness or pain,
where there is only sunshine.
No tears will dampen the pages
on which we write--
a place called Heaven.
