Soft and curvy mothers and wives
left their kitchens and rubber gloves
to enter the factories, shipyards, and hangars,
donned heavy work gloves, welder's shields, and coveralls
to do the work of men turned soldiers;
to rivet and weld, to sew and build.
They built their muscles and worked with their hearts
to keep their husbands, sons, and brothers
alive and strong and able to fight.
The 1940's were a time for women
to show their intelligence, strength, and courage,
as they fought World War II from the Homefront.
Mothers and wives, strong and tireless, soft and curvy.
