The scripture says, "For each thing, it's appointed time."
If all things have an appointed time ... then most, if not all, things ... have a purpose.
Digest that a moment.
If things did not have a purpose ... then they would have been stopped and/or corrected by Him already.
It is true that God does not wish suffering, or cause suffering, for His children, but He does allow it. For what? For purpose.
Time is an invention of man, but as we are earth-bound beings, timing is crucial. Sometimes we pray and we can sense significant events in our lives but we cannot grasp them because we are not at the appropriate psyche-awareness level to receive them. The waiting is not God taking His time, but us getting ready.
To grasp such things prematurely would be a bit like handing a coarse, heavy-handed person a fragile ornament. He must soften his hands first, and then learn to lighten his grip, before he can hold something so delicate. The lightening of his grip can be likened to an act of trust, which supersedes the need to control.
In any case, before we can achieve the greatest blessings we need to grow as souls and sometimes we do this through suffering, especially internal suffering. Suffering is an indicator, albeit a violent one, that we need to alter our life course to follow a truer path. But, we can grow faster, easier, and in a more vertical direction if we become more aware of our own souls (by that I mean our individual essence or psyche), the universe (our environment) and God Himself.
We can probably avoid a lot of internal suffering, if we can fully allow our hearts to open and trust God to do what is necessary. Helpful in this mindset is the realization that, although you do have an individual purpose (otherwise, God would have allowed your lifeforce to be stopped long ago) , life is ... in fact ... a gift.
What this means is that, like all gifts, we do not have an entitlement to it or to any of the trappings attached to it. Yes, God loves us, but He owes us nothing. He can however, if He chooses, bless us. And because He created us, He knows the most beneficial means and times to do this. And, quite often, He will do it, because He really does not want us to suffer; what He does need, however, is for us to grow. And we can grow much less traumatically through awareness and trust in Him.
Therefore, it is in our best interest to open up our lives to Him. Even if the switch of our life shuts off ... well, we did not really turn the switch on to begin with ... and perhaps we will achieve some undeserved kindness in His memory.
