I can recall
the number of hairs
upon your chest
still feel your skin
smooth, hard muscles
below
hear your voice
rumble low, like Elvis
reaching through
the telephone line
suffocating my heart
once more
should I run scared
feeling those same
old feelings
as if you were
never away
should I remember
why I have stayed
here all alone
some would say
I've been pining
a true love lost
can never be
replaced
some would say
I've held myself
at bay, allowing
time for healing
strength to start
once more
time has become
such a funny thing
like yesterday I
was throwing my arms
around you
like today your
distance is almost
too hard to take
I can see your face
lying next to mine
my arm draped
across glistening,
wet skin, heaving,
deep, smiles cut
wrinkles, I kiss
away the years
standing once more
with you
in the sea
once more
with you
