Once placed in a world of heroes,
A show of strength, will and skill.
Few took place while many viewed,
A competition that ran until,
The victor named, the feats complete,
An entire city risen to its feet.
Once with honor,
Once with pride.
Once - Where the true athletes reside.
Then shown in the world of wisdom,
A show of courage, determination.
Hundreds raced as thousands watched,
Athletic heroes of numerous nations.
Mounted podiums with anthems sung,
A world of applause, an endless thrum.
Then with knowledge,
Then with vocation.
Then - Before it fell, to damnation.
Now its seen in a world of hate,
A show of countries, all with spies.
Thousands battle as millions cease,
To exist, in a world of lies.
In the end the world thats seen,
Is shone as brightly as its ever been.
Now with science,
Now with debating.
Now - With glee, governments taking.
When its diplayed in a world of fog,
A show of mindless, endless talk.
Few will speak, as billions follow,
The path chosen for them to walk.
Noone now knows what once was there,
Heroes gone, a world in despair.
