FRIENDS LIKE YOU
Friends like you are misnomers,
A slur on the name ‘friend’.
Enemies claim honestly
That they’re like a fiend.
Friends like you beguile at first,
Then, deceptively steal.
Compared to the enemy’s,
A friend’s wounds never heal.
Friends like you are in fact snakes
That bite him who feeds them.
After years of friendship you’re
Prone to commit mayhem.
Friends like you are best kept at
Not an arm’s, a pole’s length.
The more the nearness, it gives
To you all the more strength.
So therefore to you my friend
I bid final adieu.
Ere you harm me further, I
Vow never to see you.
