THE CAUSE OF RUIN: bilingual poem

Why say my heart I was torn apart,
When gone already is my heart?

I rejoiced when her love I found
But its bitterness did astound.

I lost the heart that I had won.
The ways of love are known to none.

These vows of living together
Last as long as the fair weather.

If pain is all that’s left behind,
Why love at all the fairer kind?
