All for Vanity ...
Her yesterday was full of dreams, Her future, bold and bright. A new beginning, new career - She shivered with delight. But now, her shiver is from dread, A lump upon her breast. “How can this be? Why here? Why now?” Her silent screams protest. She pictures possibilities Of how this game will end, But with each thought, she only sees Her hopes and dreams descend. Envisions how the scalpel cuts Her body, firm and warm. Without her femininity, To neuter, she’ll transform. She can’t accept this circumstance. “I will not live that way! I’ll be imperfect, incomplete!” She cries with great dismay. She takes the mirror from its stand; She grips it in her fist, Then breaks the glass with all her strength And draws across her wrist. Her breathing slows, her brain cells die, Her mortal life will pass And broken shards of yesterday Lay scattered with the glass. ![]() 8-6-8-6 abcb
