The man nudged Moonhawk. She ignored it, the inn was growing crowded it was most likely an accident she told herself. Another nudge followed it, harder this time. She turned to glare at the culprit, a man, about thirty with a scarred face. Not surprising given his attitude, Moon thought.

“What you looking at, woman?”

“What the ears too subtle I’m not human?” Moon asked.

He gave a mocking bow. “So sorry to have offended you. ”

“Don’t much care, bump into me again and I’ll not be so nice as to just glare. Consider this your only warning.”

“Ooh, scary.” He said, “What army will you use?”

The sound of chairs scraping back caused him to look toward the back of the inn. A man with a similar insignia on his tunic was standing up, the table was full, all wore the same uniform. “This one if she needed it, though I have a feeling you are out of your league as it is.”

“Thanks Ginfla, but as you say, he’s no threat.” She called back.

“Another couple of flagons?” the innkeep asked.

“Aye, and some food when you get a chance.”

“Hey, I was talking to you.”

“No, you were talking at me. How about you go home and sleep it off, I’d hate to see you get hurt.”

“Moon. Low profile remember.” Ginfla said, joining them.

“Ah, a man come’s to fulfil your threats for you.”

“Make it quick, I’ll pretend I didn’t notice.” Gin said with a shrug, taking a flagon with him. He heard the thump and the applause, and knew she had done just that. He smiled. One day they would learn, though not to swiftly, he hoped, hearing the innkeep say the food would be free. It helped keep their bar bill down.
