                                          Ghazal 156



Persian:  Aey saba gar bagzari bar sahil e rood e Aras
              Boosa zan bar khaak e aan waadi o mushkin kun nafas
Urdu:      Aey saba jaay agar bar sahil e joo e Aras
              Khaak e waadi choom kay mushkin ker apna nafas

English:=== O breeze, when you go to her lovely vale
                  The dirt on the ground with a kiss you hail
                                                  -

Persian:  Manzil e Salma keh baadash her dam az ma sad salaam
              Ber sada e saarbaan beeni o aahang e jaras
Urdu:      Manzil e Salma ko ja kay maeri tasleemaat day
              Chal sada e saarbaan per sun kay aahang e jaras

English:=== And go if you where she happens to live
                  Greetings a million to her you give
                                                    -

Persian:  Mehmil e jaanaan baboos, aan geh ba zaari arza daar
              Kaz firaaqat sookhtam, aey mehrbaan, faryaad ras
Urdu:      Mehmil e jaanaan ko choom aur ro kay us say arz ker
              Jal gaya maen hijr maen, aey mehrbaan, faryaad ras

English:=== Then kiss her feet and beg her to come
                  For soon to the pain I'm going to succumb
                                                    -

Persian:  Ishrat e shabgeer kun, mai noosh kandaer rah e ishq
              Shabrawaan ra aashnaiehast baa mir e asas
Urdu:      Ishrat e shabgeer ker, mai pee keh rah e ishq maen
              Aashnaie shab kay rehzan ko hay baa mir e asas

English:=== And bring some wine and let me drink
                  And tell not the censor and neither his fink

Persian:  Dil ba raghbat meesupaarad jaan ba chashm e mast e yaar
              Garcheh hushyaaraan nadaadand ikhtiaar e khud ba kas
Urdu:      Dil khushi say jaan daway chashm e mast e yaar per
              Gercheh hushyaaraan na daewaen lkhtiaar e khud ba kas

English:=== I'll lay my life for her charming eyes
                  And if I'm a fool, I don't apologize
                                                    -

Persian:  Mun keh qaul e naashehaan ra khaandamay baang e rabaab
              Gooshmaalay khurdam az hijraan keh einam pand bas 
Urdu:      Gercheh qaul e naasehaan gulbaang tha maeray liay
              Goashmaali ki meri hijraan nay kuchh aisi keh bas

English:=== And alhough I have to pay the price
                  Never will I take the preacher's advice
                                                      -

Persian:  Tootiaan dar shakkaristaan kaamraani meekunand
              Waz tahassur dast bar sar meezanad miskeen magas
Urdu:      Shakkaristaan maen karay haen aish jab keh tootiaan
              Aarzoo maen kuin na peetay apna sar miskeen nafas

English:=== I know, to my rival she is always sweet
                  And I'm the one who takes all the heat

Persian:  Ishqbaazi kaarbaazi neest, aey dil sar babaaz
              Zaan keh goo e ishq natwaan zad ba choogaan e hawas
Urdu:      Sar ki baazi ishq hay, yeh khail bachchoun ka naheen
              Goo e ulfat ko na maaraen haen ba choegaan e hawas

English:=== In the game of love the stakes are high
                  But I don't care; I'm willing to die
                                                      -

Persian:  Naam e HAFIZ gar bar aayad bar zabaan e kalk e doost
              Az janaab e hazrat e shaham bus ast ein multamas
Urdu:      Naam e HAFIZ aek din aaay zabaan e kalk per
              Bus yehi aey baadsheh tujh say hay maeri multamas

English:=== And believe me, HAFIZ, it'll all be fine
                  If once in a while she'll drop me a line
