THE ONWARD MARCH

THE ONWARD MARCH

Shall I abandon my path
Because of obstructions?
Why should I be a slave of
Mental inhibitions?

The caravan does move on
Despite the canine bark.
Undeterred by wayward clouds
Soars high the gentle lark.

Life is a one-time affair.
We come here only once.
Shall we allow that this march
Be ruined by a dunce?

We can’t make all men happy,
Howsoever we try.
Why should a pin-prick make us
Inconsolably cry?

Such thought does keep me moving
Onward on sands of time.
I think this is what renders
My journey so sublime.
