So fragile a child i see
within a web of poetry
that i weave for her,

clinging to the oracle
at Simic's altar
waiting for the wind to fly,

but not knowing why
she cannot find
her way up to the sky.

She turns to listen
and see the children
laughing and playing,

swimming in the creek
where once she stood
her feet so bare upon the sand,

a distant memory
beneath the copper beech
a camera in her hand.

My sincere thanks to you
in a poem of yours
that will always remind me of you.

Upon a midnight dream
I thought I saw, Gabriellar
walking down the lane
to hear a flutter in the sky
so softly a colored butterfly.

A Tiger Swallow Tail
to woo his lovely lady
pretty young Adonis Blue
who knew a trick or two,
of how to spot the crazy
Silver-Spotted Skipper
flying behind to tail her.

Now down in the dale
naughty Cairns Birdwing
tries to kiss Cleopatra,
engaged to the Monarch
to marry her in May
where upon a pillow
tired Apollo lay,

waiting for Blue Morpho
who is always late
for a wedding date,
but with a kiss or two
she makes him wait
then flies away
to find her sister,

Large White Lady
a distant cousin
of Quava skipper
and his twin brother,
the Regent Skipper
married to Copper Lady
in the court of Monarch.

Black-Veined White
sitting in the night
holding wings with
Green Underside Blue,
sits and cries for friends
Camberwell Beauty
and Large Copper,

who hide away
in a lonely lane
wondering why,
they are not invited
to the wedding ball
for the royal marriage
to dance the night away.

The wise Monarch hearing of this tale
declared a regal holiday for his wedding day,
to invite all the colored butterflies in the world
to welcome and celebrate his marriage to Cleopatra,
who will ensure that everyone will have a partner
to dance the night away and fall in love again.

A tribute to a lady
that means the world to me.
