THE ISLAND OF MY LONGING
Hard rowing is no good, you see, upon life's vast and churning sea. It blurs horizons; clouds my mind, and leaves me with no hope to find the island of my longing! For should I search my whole life's span in fervent hope to reach its sand the only shores I'll ever see will be the ones that cannot be the island of my longing! It seems when you reach for a star to whisk you from the where you are, you cause your dream to fade and dip. Behind the wake made by your ship: the island of your longing! I cannot chart the course of life, nor skirt its rocks and shoals and strife- I bow therefore to life, anew, in deep belief it leads me to the island of my longing!
