                                          Ghazal 162


Persian:  Baaghbaan gar panj roozay sohbat e gul bayadash
              Bar jafa e khaar e hijraan sabr e bulbul bayadash
Urdu:      Baaghbaan ger tujh ko kuchh din sohbat e gul chahiay
              Ber jafa e khaar e hijraan sabr e bulbul chahiay

English:=== For the company of the rose if you have a desire
                  The patience of nightingale you better acquire
                                                    -

Persian:  Aey dil andar band e zulfash az pareeshaani manaal
              Murgh e zeerak chun ba daam uftad, tahammul bayadash
Urdu:      Band e kakul maen tujhay aey dil pareeshaani hay kuin
              Daam maen ik murgh e zeerak ko tahammul chahiay

English:=== If you love her hair, you'll be in a snare
                  And a lot of sorrow you'll then have to bear
                                                    -

Persian:  Baa chuneen zulf o rukhay baadash nazarbaazi haraam
              Har keh roo e yaasmin o jaad e sunbul bayadash
Urdu:      Jab mayassar zulf e yaar o doulat e rukhsaar ho
              Kis ko roo e yaasmin o zulf e sunbul chahiay

English:=== But anyone who looks at her beautiful face
                  Her love from his heart he can never erase
                                                      -

Persian:  Naaz az aan nargis e mastaana maabayad kasheed
              Ein dil e shooreeda gar aan zulf o kaakul bayadash 
Urdu:      Naaz o ghamza chashm e mastaana kay haen akseer e jaan
              Per dil e shoureeda ko aashufta kaakul chahiay

English:=== For the lure of her eyes you should find a cure
                  For a lot of misery you'll otherwise endure 
                                                        -

Persian:  Rind e aalamsooz ra baa maslahat beeni chah kaar
              Kaar e mulkast aan keh tadbeer o tahammul bayadash
Urdu:      Rind e aalamsouz ka hay maslahat say kaam kya
              Maana sultaani ko tadbeer o tahammul chahiay

English:=== From wisdom and prudence if you want to be free
                  You should become a toper and be just like me
                                                        -

Persian:  Takya bar taqwa o daanish dar tareeqat faafireest
              Rahroo gar sad hunar daarad tawakkul bayadash
Urdu:      Aql o taqwa per bharousa maarfat maen kufr hay
              Saw hunar bhee houn toe rehraw ko tawakkul chahiay

English:=== To the worldly wisdom you should say good-bye
                  On God a mystic must always rely
                                                        -

Persian:  Saaqia dar gardish saaghar taallul ta ba chand
              Dour chun baa aashiqaan uftad tasalsul bayadash
Urdu:      Laet o laaly gardish saaghar maen aey saaqi na ker
              Dour jab ushshaaq tak punhchay tasalsul chahiay


English:=== From drinking wine you should never shrink
                  So go to the bar and drink and drink
                                                          -

Persian:  Keest HAFIZ ta nanooshad baada bay aawaaz e chang
              Aashiq e miskeen chira chandeen tajammul bayadash
Urdu:      Baada bay aawaaz e barbat peeta HAFIZ kuin naheen
              Aashiq e miskeen ko itna kuin tajammul chahiay

English:=== And though a pauper, our HAFIZ thinks
                  Without the music you shouldn't have drinks
