STARLESS NIGHTS: a sonnet--Bilingual
When night is dark and moon has taken leave And blankets of dark clouds hide all the stars, The absence of a ray makes one believe That existence of light is just a farce. The starless nights cannot be wished away. They’re as much of a fact as there is sun. Determination to move must not sway. The march has to go on if it’s begun. A perpetual night there cannot be, Just as there cannot be constant sunshine. As gloom and joy both in the world we see, Light and darkness do also intertwine. If nights are starless do not lose your will. An inner light is there to guide you still. * Awarded first place in the “COLORING THE WORLD CONTEST” contest, "COLORING THE WORLD CONTEST " M C Gupta 24 August 2008 ********* NOTE—A Hindi version of this sonnet, given below, was written on 27 July 2011— ३४३८.
