THE WORM IN MY HEART

THE WORM IN MY HEART

My heart is now almost dead,
I have no shame to say.
It’s eaten by the worm of
Depression night and day.

My life is but a long night
Without a ray of hope.
I need now only a stool,
A hook, two yards of rope.

They can’t know my pain, for them
I need simply a shrink.
No one realizes that
I am just on the brink.

This pain and this helplessness
Is beyond tolerance.
Why should I live and for whom?
Death’s the only riddance.
