YOU
In memory of the departed spouse.

YOU

A thought whispered, a face covered,
A fading memory,
A dream shattered, a faith wavered,
A moment of glory;

A hazy scene, a wish serene,
A picture unpainted,
An ambition, inspiration
A virtue untainted;

A seed unsown, a bud not grown,
An unsavoured fragrance,
Unmatched beauty, call of duty,
An unending penance;

Forever hope, entangled rope,
An unfulfilled desire,
A gentle squeeze, violent breeze,
An all engulfing fire;

You were all these and yet much more,
You meant so much to me.
So close to me but yet so far,
You were my destiny.
