ANTICIPATING AUTUMN

Each autumn for me is like coming home
Once summer is over, I cease to roam
Children go to school, wonder in their eyes
As if each new day will bring a surprise
Autumn leaves fall, piling up on the ground
Twirling and dancing, as they blow around
Red and yellow, brown and orange they fall
Rustling as I walk, embracing it all
Visit the apple farm, breathe in the scents
Ripe apples, spiced cider, and fall events
Halloween’s coming, the pumpkins abound
They lay in the fields, all over the ground
The Harvest Moon shines with all of its might
While witches and goblins wait in delight
To frighten and scare all the unaware
There is just something special in the air
A morning chill lingers, fire in the grate
Everyone starts to anticipate
Winter snows, sledding, and holiday fun
And prayers of peace for everyone
