Was there a time

God was alone,

from eternity aforetime?

No terrestrial ball,

nor heaven's high canopy

where His glory covers all.

No sun that lit up the world to view,

nor holy angels

singing His praises anew.

Nothing,

not a sound,

only God from Everlasting.

Self contained,

self satisfied,

self sufficient,

in need of nothing.
