Life is more

I've played the game so many
before my time have played
and followed in the footsteps
that hurried feet have made.
-
I've walked the beaten pathways
that lead to God knows where
and know the sense of failure
that comes from being there.
-
I've held the cup of blessing
and drank of its content
then let it slip through fingers
not knowing where it went.
-
Through it all I've realized
I have but naught to give
to Him who gave new meaning
to what it means to live.
