Before each appointment I prayed,
hoping to remain woman whole, at each appointment, I’m betrayed. My entreats are to no avail, the One Who Mends a fairy tale. God why have Thou forsaken me? Feeling alone so utterly! Before each test result I prayed, though His long silence took its toll, with each test result, I’m betrayed. If you lift this dark heavy veil I will forget this betrayal. Show me you care, my solemn plea, please give up this divine ennui. Before each procedure I prayed, bitterness nibbled at my soul, with each procedure, felt betrayed. Another Mass card in the mail, others wish that I will prevail. So now in Lourdes they pray for me; petitions sent over the sea. Before each surgery I prayed, in my heart a sad hungry hole, after surgery, left betrayed. Friends prayed in churches, temples; they’ll be my rock as my own faith frail; a spiritual refugee; still I clung to my rosary. Before final treatment I prayed, my final imploration roll, treatments done, no longer betrayed. Devotions - now my holy grail; as natural as to exhale; sung to the moon or on bent knee; I know that God is there with me.
