                             Budding tree, sapling petite…leaf,
set deep in root – proliferate.
Break of day, into life the thief,
                             orbiting Earth accelerate.

                             Adolescent before nightfall,
                             emergence divergence the quick.
                             Circling hands, the need…then stall,
                             burning wick, melting stick, tick-tick-

                             Caressing longevity’s hand
                             thinking life's best staying behind.
Slipping sand through glass not that grand,
rushing of time caught on the wind.

Youth bitten by the grand old germ,
                             fever ridden archaic soul.
                             Waking and growing strongly firm,
getting old has taken no toll.

                             Enduring tree reaching the sky,
deeply set roots and wrinkled stem.
                             Feeling so spry, youthfully high,
                             sparkling leaves, emerald gem-

First young, then old and young again,
                             memories form circling rings.
                             Budding blossoms filling the glen,
birds on wings singing happy things.
