Hopelessly Marred

Our children’s hearts are crying out
In panic-stricken fear;
They don’t know what it’s all about,
They hide behind a tear.

Where can one start to tell the tale
Of anguish, latent pain?
A happy childhood now gone stale
As joy turns to disdain…

The problem lies within the mind,
Quite psychological;
A weakness, uncontrolled we find,
With thoughts illogical.

The hurt is deep for all involved,
Especially the child;
Their innocence of life dissolved
By acts of those gone wild.

The children do not run for help,
They know not where to go;
One seldom hears a young one yelp…
Sheer fear inside does grow.

Their anger and the pain within
Evolves throughout their lives;
Some try to cope through discipline,
Some pray that help arrives.

The problem’s hard and deep and sad,
The end seems not in sight;
A population has gone mad
With sickening delight.

A lack of help – and ignorance
Have plagued our children, dear.
They suffer with the consequence,
Which is... at best... severe.

Somehow, we’ve go to stop these souls
Before still more are scarred;
Their victim’s rights to reach their goals
Now hopelessly are marred!
