Sheets of Gold


The crawling, sprawling color
and creeping, seeping cold

Harbingers - of the dark.

The whirling, turning messengers
Of a season indifferent and old

Harbingers - of the glacial prison.

Drifting, wafting, tumbling
Sheets of orange and gold

Harbingers - of hard Earth.

Crumbled, rumpled refuse
Piled high, to rot and mold.

Harbingers - of a reawakening.
