Susan was upset as she stepped off the bus, today was Friday and she had plans of starting the weekend off to a good note in her new apartment.
But, today was one of those days where everything went wrong. And because she had to put out fires all day that her stupid boss caused, she was late getting home. The Bus arrives to her stop, and she steps off. It was cold outside, Susan cursed her boss in her mind as she buttoned her coat and flipped her collar up. The streets were dark and dreary, if it wasn't for the random street lights or the dimly lit lights from the homes, her world would be pitch black. As Susan made her way down Elm Street, she had that eerie feeling of being followed, she glanced over her shoulder, there was nobody there. she turned the corner at Maple and once again glanced over her shoulder, again nobody there. Susan quicken her pace, as she imagined the newspaper headlines YOUNG WOMAN ATTACKED BY CRAZED MANIAC!! She shook her head to clear the images of her bruised body laying on an Emergency Room gurney. She smiled to herself as visions of the Trix's cereal rabbit ran accross her mind saying "Silly Girl" but still she couldn't shake the feeling. Susan kept thinking how she couldn't wait until she was in her apartment, safely behind her closed door. Walking down Maple the large trees blocking most of the street lights made everything darker and more sinister looking, then that feeling of being followed came back, this time Susan felt the fine hairs on her neck stand up. Susan quickened her pace as she glanced over her shoulder, again nobody was there. She stepped off the curb and crossed Oak Street, with each step that haunting feeling got stronge. Susan brought-up images of her new apartment in hopes of pushing the feeling of being followed by a crazed killer from her mind. But it was hard since she's only been there for a week. But she still knew how safe she'll feel once she closed and was safely behind her locked door. Just thinking about her quaint little apartment gave her a warm feeling inside. But the moment she looked at her surroundings that haunting feeling returned.. Suaan again looked over her shoulder, as her pace quickened, she wished, she had worn a more comfortable shoe or even brought her sneakers to work and changed before leaving. This way she could walk faster, she smiled again to herself as she imaged jogging in her work clothes. Looking ahead the steet seemed to get darker. and that haunting feeling returned so strong Susan stopped and turned around looking behind herself, surveying the street for any sign of someone following.her nobody was there as far as she could tell she was the last person on earth. She started walking faster while thinking how safe she'l feel standing in her living room behind her locked door. Susan crossed Pine Street which was the last block before her apartment. Pine was even darker because it was lined with larger trees blocking more light. Again she glanced over her shoulde, this time looking over both shoulders, this time the haunting feeling was so strong she glanced over her shoulder with each step. Almost home Susan turned and started down the walkway to he apartment. She finally reached the stairs to her apartment again looking over her shoulder as she took that first step up the stairs. Looking back trying to shake the eerie feeling she hurried up the stairs, and started feeling through her purse for her keys. Finally at the top of the stairs with keys in hand Susan looked down the stairs and out into the street, no sing of life anywhere. Susan, put her key it the lock and turned, that haunting feeling was slowly leaving as she pushed the door open and stepped into her apartment. The room was much darker than outside but the feeling was cozier, and as Susan heard the latch catch she lfinally felt safe and eaned back aganist the door closing her eyes and finally felt her body completely relax, home at last she though to herself. Then out of nowhere there was a thump sound followed by a sharp pain in the middle of her addomen, another sharp pain and through her unfocused teary eyes Susan saw a shadowy figure standing there. Another sharp pain an Susan felt her legs weaken, and a sudden coldness came over her whole body. She grabbed at the figure as another pain hit her.Susan grabbed her abdomen at the site of the pain and her hand was wet and sticky. Fear filled her bogy as she realized, she had been stabed and was dying. Unable to make a sound Susan, lifeless body slid to the floor, and aganist the very door she couldn't wait to get behind.
