They call this mess a wonderful mental infirmity,
where you're only safe in your own mind,
a beautiful sty of uncertainty,
while he crawls under your skin,
the sun creeps into your room,
but today you just close the blinds.

Things were breathtaking when you first fell,
now they're ordinary and inevitable,
and you're fighting for something new to kill the dry spell,
waiting for your love to liquefy something,
something that might be more than sensible.

Prince charming wasn't so charming and you're just too good,
you know better now but your loneliness ticks like an explosive,
I've watched you from the inside doing everything you could,
I've watched you unwind and become alive -- I've watched you die,
your grip on reality has become elusive.

They come, they leave pain or they leave smiles, they go,
you miss it, you don't wast time lingering, it's full of danger,
figuring you'll find someone right, and by then you'll know,
you'll be infallible, and I can rest easy knowing you're just fine,
for now, you're not so sure, and everything is a wager.

He's gone, you mind as well forget that,
you put it in the back of your mind and let it decompose,
he is your veins, under your skin, the rapid tap-tap-tap,
your pulse, your foundation, he is the reason you are what you are,
never give him credit, he doesn't deserve it, he's worthless, I suppose.

We'll wait together, you and me, you don't know me that efficiently,
but I am you, as you are me, the girl you were before love,
I've observed you carefully and admired you consistently,
I've been scared and worried, but I always wait here,
you'll find him one day, so open the blinds, and know what you're above.
