Observing the crossover from day to night
A single star, shimmering
Shines dimly in the coming dark.
Crickets, chirping
Sing their unceasing evening song.
Mosquitoes, buzzing
Routinely ruin the perfection.
The breeze, cool
Gently brushes past my face.
Headlights, blinding
Puncture the darkness like a knife.
The fountain, illuminated
Perpetually patters against the lake.
Neighbors, passing
Appreciate the cool relief of night.
Twilight, breathing
Teems with beauty, magic, life.
