BROKEN BOND
We had a bond, a bond of love, By passion kisses sealed; A bond visible to but us, To others not revealed. A bond so tender yet so firm, Fragile and yet so strong; Though not written on parchment, it Could never have gone wrong. But my belief was unfounded. To you, it was quite fair To leave me for another one, Plunge me into despair. A broken bond, a broken heart, A hope broken and gone; I was truly, by all these, in Darkest depression thrown. But I have now come out of it And find there is yet light. I no more nurse a broken heart. Life is once more so bright. • Written in abcb rhyme, 8-6-8-6 meter for “A Broken Heart Poetry Contest”, "A Broken Heart Poetry Contest", 13th round, September 2008, organised by Stacy SHOUTS- Aralls RoCkS!!
