The Land of Fae: Part I
A War is Waged

Deep within a forest green,
live the faeries and their queen;
like fireflies in the night,
they wait 'til dark, then take flight.

Strong bodyguards at her side,
Queen Gwendolyn flies with pride,
leading all her faery kin
into a war they must win...

"This is our land," she declares.
"We'll not be struck unawares!
Tonight we must make a stand
and chase those beasts from our land!"

Support clear in every eye,
Gwendolyn let out a sigh.
"Warriors we're not born to be,"
to a guard she said sadly.

"But, my queen," Claudo replied,
"not one fae, from war, has shied.
They know this war has to be
for us to find harmony."

From her eye a tear did fall,
but Gwendolyn still stood tall.
"Dear Claudo, your words are true,
but our weapons are so few!"

Claudo raised a solemn hand,
"We have powers of the land!
We need not a hundred swords,
we have magic from the lords!"

"Yes, yes, Claudo, you are right,
but some will still die tonight!
Blessed by the lords we may be,
but that is no guarantee...

"For though we know we are right,
still we are not born to fight!
How many lives will be lost?
How many will pay war's cost?

"Our whole realm is on the line;
no life is safe --not even mine!
Our friends and kin stand so proud,
but we are a peaceful crowd!

"Our happy land, we must save,
but why must war be the way?
Tomorrow we may roam free,
But, for tonight, death I see!"

And thus a war had been waged,
battle soon to be engaged.
Following their mighty queen,
The Fae marched toward the unseen.
