Letter from College
Hi Mom and Dad, Hey, things are pretty tough here. I spent all the money you've already given me on things that didn't turn out the way I thought they were. Okay, I'll be honest with you, I kind of lied to get you to give me the money . . . . but it was to protect you from the truth. At any rate, now my buddies are in trouble. They racked up a huge amount of credit card debt and they needed me to bail them out. So I did. So now we're in a bad situation. If I don't get a whole bunch of money soon, not only will my situation be dire, but it will also have an impact on YOU. The thing is, I know what I’m doing. I know I've been telling you all along that the fundamentals of my budgeting is sound, but the fact is, they are not. And if we don't ACT NOW, the entire world as we know it will come to a halt. So here's what I think is the only choice we have. If you could just send me a blank check, I will use it appropriately. Don't ask what I'll do with it, and please I just don't have time to answer any questions about what you might get in return. In fact, the whole notion that you would attach strings to this blank check upsets me. There are two types of people in a crisis, those that blame, and those that act. I want to act. So please give me a blank check. If I don't hear back from you by the end of the week, with that blank check, the world as we know it will end. Your Child, College Student PS: Act now, or the world as we know it will end.
