Have you felt the pains of hunger?
Seen plagues, floods, wars and plunder?
Lost your home and forced to flee,
Robbed of belongings and now a refugee.

Determined to save your family's life,
You take your children and your wife,
Sheer desperation controls your mind,
In search for safety to escape the unkind.

Cold and hungry with no place to hide,
All through the nights the children cried,
Driven by fear we run for the beach,
Little legs so tired, impossible to reach.

Through the night we slept by a tree,
Come morning board a ship to be free,
Relief has come at a very high price,
All there's to eat is a cup of white rice.

Can't go back so just have to go on,
Refuse to stop we need to be strong,
The family is precious and l adore,
l'll find a place where war is no more.
