Anything but the silence Slap me hard, twice across the face Streaking my skin, angry pink Where your hand struck; Anything but the silence Scream at me as tears interlace Resonating the odium written in ink When words came unstuck; Anything but the silence Steal my last breath and give chase Clutching my heart before you rethink Where thoughts never buck; Anything but the silence Swallow my pride and let you erase Moving swiftly, constructing missing link When we’re just out of luck; Anything but the silence
