                                    Ghazal 106


Persian:  Har keh dar peesh e chashm e roshan e maast
              Goiya aafat e dil o tan e maast
Urdu:      Wo haseen jis say chashm roshan hay
              Kulfat o aafat e dil o tan hay

English:=== The beautiful girl that brighens my eyes
                  Oh, how my heart she does terrorize
                                          -

Persian:  Chashm e ma gar namishawad, manaak
              Aan hamaan aaftaab e roshan e maast
Urdu:      Daekh ker aab o taab e mah jabeen
              Chhup gaya aaftaab e roshan hay

English:=== The glow and glamour of her gorgeous face
                  Makes the glory of the moon look commonplace
                                            -       

Persian:  Laalaha meedamad zay khoon e do chashm
              Gird e ma aan bahaar o gulshan e maast
Urdu:      Rang e laala say ashk e khooneen kay
              Roo e aashiq bahaar o gulshan hay

English:=== My tears of blood, though such a disgrace
                  Do give some color to my colorless face
                                          -

Persian:  Ma chu Hindoo e somnaat ba ishq
              But parestaem o dil brahmin e mast
Urdu:      Ishq maen taeray aey but e kafir
              Dil bana ik mera brahmin hay

English:=== My faith and creed, it has made me sell
                  This love in my heart of an infidel
                                          -

Persian:  Guftam az mehr sookht KHUSRO, guft
              Chand az ein zarraha ba roozan e maast
Urdu:      Mehr e rukh say agar jala KHUSRO
              Zarra e khaak wo ba roezan hay

English:=== Though, KHUSRO, love can cause blight
                  Its fire can also be a source of light
