                                    Ghazal 108



Persian:  Har keh roo e to deed jaan daanist
              Lab e sheerint ra hamaan daanist
Urdu:      Maen nay zalim ko mehrbaan samjha
              Aek qatil ko jaan e jaan samjha

English:=== Everybody loves her lovely face
                  For it has beauty, charm, and grace
                                          -

Persian:  Nirkh kardy na boosa e jaanay
              Banda bakhreed o raigaan daanist
Urdu:      Aiwaz e bosa us nay, juz jaan kay
              Jo kya nazr, raigaan samjha 

English:=== Her lips are juicy, luscious, and red
                  Her kiss can revive even the dead
                                            -

Persian:  Zaqanay cheh namood o dil ba khayaal
              Boosaay zad magar dahaan daanist
Urdu:      Chum chah e zaqan liya maen nay
              Dahan e chah ko dahaan samjha

English:=== And the darling dimple of her dainty chin
                  If you don't kiss her, it would be sin
                                            -

Persian:  Dil zay hijr e to bus keh tang aamad
              Marg ra umr e jaavidaan daanist
Urdu:      Dil hua tang hijr say aisa
              Marg ko umr e jaavidaan samjha

English:=== So when she leaves me, I cry and cry
                  I don't want to live, I would rather die
                                            -

Persian:  Dee zay kooyat tan e zaeef e mara
              Zaagh barbood o istakhaan daanist
Urdu:      Tan kya gham nay is qadar laaghir
              Zaagh nay us ko istakhaan samjha

English:=== I feel sometimes my death is close
                  And I'm fit only for the vultures and crows
                                            -

Persian:  Ghamza e to zabaan kasheed zay mun
              Keh mara naek baizabaan daanist
Urdu:      Dil toe baandha, zabaan naheen bandhi
              Zulf nay mujh ko baizabaan samjha

English:=== My love has made me so frail and weak
                  I can barely move; I can hardly speak
                                            -

Persian:  Peesh az ein gham nabood KHUSRO ra
              Gham keh daanist, ein zamaan daanist
Urdu:      Awwal e ishq KHUSRAV e naadaan
              Aarzi jour e baikaraan samjha

English:=== But there was a time, as KHUSRO knows
                  I had no worries; I had no woes
