                                Ghazal 180

Persian:  Sahar chu bulbul e baidil damay shudam dar baagh
              Keh ta chu bulbul e baidil kunam ilaaj e dimaagh
Urdu:      Misaal e bulbul e baidil gaya maen andar baagh
              Keh boo e gul say ho shaayad mera ilaaj e dimaagh

English:=== I went to the garden and drank some ale
                  And heard the wailing of the nightingale
                                        -

Persian:  Ba chehra e gul e soori nigah meekardam
              Keh bood dar shab e taaray barooshni chu charaagh
Urdu:      Ho chehra e gul e soori nigah maen maeri
              Mitaaoun teeragi e gham ba roashni e charaagh

English:=== Blooming there also was a beautiful rose
                  But, unlike the birds, it had no woes
                                        -

Persian:  Chunaan ba husn o jawaani e kheeshtan maghroor
              Keh daasht az dil e bulbul hazaar goona faraagh
Urdu:      Banaya husn o jawaani nay is qadar maghroor
              Keh undaleeb kay dil say raha hay us ko faraagh

English:=== It looked so happy, so vigorous, so proud
                  Standing alone and above the crowd
                                          -

Persian:  Kushaada nargis e raana ba hasrat aab az chashm
              Nihaada laala e ahmar ba jaan o dil sad daagh
Urdu:      Haen kis qadar gul e nargis kin aankh maen aansoo
              Hean daekh laala e hamrsa kay dil maen kitnay daagh

EnglIsh:=== The narcissus also was looking very grand
                  Had a tulip in waiting with a cup in hand
                                          -

Persian:  Zabaan kasheeda chu taeghay ba sarzanish soosan
              Dahan kushaada shaqaiq chu murdumaan e nabaagh
Urdu:      Zabaan ki taegh say karti hay sarzanish sousan
              Dahan kushaada hui yaasmeen ander baagh

English:=== The iris there also was lashing its tongue
                  Scolding them all, whether old or young
                                          -

Persian:  Yakay chu baadaparastaan suraahi andar dast
              Yakay chu saaqi e mastaan ba cuff grifta ayaagh
Urdu:      Ho shakl e baadaparastaan suraaahi ander dast
              Misaal e saaqi e mastaan ba cuff ho aek ayaagh

English:=== And holding a flask was there a lass
                  Pouring red wine in everyone's glass   
                                          -

Persian:  Nishaat o aesh o jawaani chu gul ghaneemat daan
              Keh HAFIZA nabawad bar rasool ghair e balaagh
Urdu:      Nishaat o aesh e jawaani hay, khush raho HAFIZ
              Bahaar aaie hay roshan hua hay gul ka charaagh

English:=== And there was HAFIZ singing his song
                  And telling us to come and sing along
